Wonderful storytelling here! The Metsänpeitto concept is genuinely fascinating since it describes something beyond simple disorientation. When the forest becomes 'upside-down or bizare' and even familiar landmarks feel foreign, there's a psychological truth underneath the folklore. Makes me wonder if these tales were early attempts to describe altered states of cousciousness or the mind's response to genuine danger in the wilderness.
Interesting reflection! I personally have always thought that metsänpeitto was a way to explain getting lost. But your thought is a very reasonable possibility! Thank you for commenting. 🫶🏼
Such a wondrous and nostalgic story! There is so much correlation with Northern Russian mythology - we have very similar forest creatures. And the bear painting! - many a household had this painting hanging on a wall somewhere! Did you know that the bears were painted by a different painter - Shishkin only painted landscapes. They originally put both their signatures on the work, but one of them was removed by the commissioner of the painting.
Oh, I didn’t know that about the painting! I wonder why the other artist was left out. It would be interesting to hear which of these stories were also familiar in Russia. Thanks for your lovely comment Maria! 🤗
Mä oon ollut kerran metsänpeitossa lapsena, mut onneksi mun mummi oli kertonut tästä jo aiemmin mulle ja osasin tehdä ”oikeat jutut”, jotta pääsin sieltä pois. Mummi tiesi muutenkin paljon tällaisista jutuista.
Oliko pelottava kokemus? Mielestäni metsänpeitto on kaikkein mielenkiintoisin uskomus mihin olen törmännyt. Jollain tavalla hyvin kiehtova. Kiitos kun kommentoit! 😊

Juuh, se on niin paljon enemmän kuin vain olla eksynyt.

The images remind me of some music bands that dress like Tapio and use antlers, bone whistles and other early instruments to create primal music.
Sounds like a cool band! I can’t think of which one it might be.🤔😊
I have found several on You Tube music. Also, many kinds of music from countries around the world. Hope you find some.
You have such cool friends.
Aren’t they? They’re always around, whether on the water, in the forest, or deep inside a cave. 🌲✨
