"The frost-covered winter stalks stood along the edge of the field, welcoming the first sunrise of the year wrapped in their icy coats. The streets were empty. It felt like we were the only people awake. The snow creaked under our feet. Even the ditch that usually flows fast had frozen completely solid. The world had frozen still."
Can I have a whole novel that starts with this, please?!
This line right here - "Year after year, the same thing amazes me: how nature can be so beautiful and ever-changing, full of surprises." I feel the same way. Always a treat reading your reflections. Wishing you and the family a great new year!
Read this after starting my year with a wonderful sunrise walk. I appreciated your approach to taking in the quiet wonders. The older I get the more I find myself focusing on and being grateful for them.
We’ve had pretty winters in the past, all I can say about this one is that the fog is dark and deep. And the people, the animals too, are feeling the lack of sun and blue sky. It’s nice to see that it exists outside our small valley.
Even here, the sun only shines once or twice a week at this time of year, if at all. We had been waiting for snow for a long time this year. I even started to worry that winter wouldn’t come. Now snow fell overnight and brought along strong cold. Hopefully you’ll get better weather soon too! 🫶🏼☀️
Such a beautiful start on 2026, the frost images are breathtaking ❄️💙 I like when you say that the new year will arrive quitly, and no promises😌🙏 That is exactly how I feel too💙🌟
Your note was so beautiful and the photos of the beauty of frozen nature waiting
for the first sunrise is amazing and so lovely! Thank you so much!
Thank you Jacqueline for your kind comment! The frozen world is full of surprises.❄️✨
